California now has more electric vehicle chargers than gasoline nozzles.
California has achieved a major milestone by surpassing the number of electric vehicle (EV) chargers compared to gasoline nozzles across the state. With 178,549 EV chargers now available, this represents a 48% increase over the approximately 120,000 gas nozzles. The growing network of chargers enhances the driving experience for EV owners, especially in previously challenging areas. Despite recent vandalism incidents and protests, California remains committed to clean transportation, with 25% of new cars sold being electric. The state plans to further invest in EV infrastructure, ensuring a greener future for its residents.
California is buzzing with excitement as the state has officially surpassed a remarkable milestone: the number of electric vehicle (EV) chargers now outnumbers gasoline nozzles! This significant achievement shows just how far the Golden State has come in championing clean transportation.
As it stands, California boasts a whopping 178,549 EV chargers, which is a staggering 48% more than the approximately 120,000 gas nozzles scattered throughout the state. This means that for every four gasoline nozzles, there are now almost six places to charge your electric vehicle!
The bulk of the chargers – more than 162,000 – are Level 2 chargers, which are found in various locations, from shopping centers to public parks. If you’re in a hurry, don’t worry; you can find nearly 17,000 fast chargers that can get you up and running quickly. Plus, it’s estimated that over 700,000 Level 2 chargers are privately installed at single-family homes across California!
With the rise in charging stations, the driving experience for EV owners is continuously getting better, especially in remote areas where it used to be a challenge to find a charge. This improvement is all part of a larger plan that California has put in place to invest in EV infrastructure, which now totals over $1 billion. A recent investment plan of $1.4 billion aims to further enhance the state’s network of EV and hydrogen charging stations.
