A shocking robbery occurred on August 7, 2023, affecting a man dining at The BLVD restaurant at the iconic Beverly Wilshire Hotel. This wasn’t just any theft; the stolen item was a jaw-dropping watch valued at a whopping $1 million.
The incident unfolded around 6:40 p.m., while the victim enjoyed a meal with his wife and twin daughters. The crime involved two suspects, identified as Jamer Mauricio Sepulveda Salazar, a 21-year-old from Colombia, and Jesus Eduardo Padron Rojas, a 19-year-old from Venezuela. Both have been charged in relation to this high-profile robbery. Salazar faces serious allegations, including interference with commerce by robbery and possessing a firearm during a violent crime, while Rojas is charged with conspiracy.
Investigations revealed that the suspects meticulously scouted the victim for two weeks leading up to the robbery. During the incident, one suspect wielded a semi-automatic handgun, while the other snatched the valuable watch. A quick getaway was orchestrated, with the duo fleeing in a vehicle parked on South Rodeo Drive.
Just three days later, police were hot on the trail. They executed a search warrant at an Airbnb linked to the suspects in Los Angeles. Officers made a stunning discovery—a handgun that traced back to Christopher Dorner, a former LAPD officer infamous for a brutal killing spree in 2013. The suspects were later captured while driving a Chevrolet Equinox connected to an earlier robbery involving a $30,000 Rolex. Remarkably, Sepulveda admitted his involvement in both robberies during police questioning and mentioned plans to travel to Miami to rendezvous with a co-conspirator for payment.
